DESCRIPTION:Program Chairs: \n\nLaura Castillo-Martinez\, Duke University\nPaulina Restrepo-Echavarria\, St. Louis Fed \n\nThe 6th annual Women in Macroeconomics Conference brought together influential economists from around the world working in the field of macroeconomics. The conference gathered macroeconomists working in macro\, broadly defined\, including but not limited to growth\, business cycles\, macro theory\, macro finance\, international economics\, macro labor\, and macro development. It also provided participants an opportunity to strengthen their research and build their network. \nThis event took place on May 30-31\, 2024\, at the University of Chicago’s Gleacher Center and included a series of presentations on papers at the frontier of macroeconomics. \nJoining the Women in Macroeconomics Conference 2024 as the Keynote speaker was Amanda Bayer\, Swarthmore College.             \n                 \nAmanda Bayer is Franklin and Betty Barr Professor and Chair of the Economics Department at Swarthmore College\, where she teaches courses in advanced microeconomic theory\, game theory\, and race\, ethnicity and gender in economics\, as well as in microeconomic and macroeconomic principles. She is also a Visiting Senior Adviser at the Board of Governors\, where she has served since 2015. She holds a B.A. in economics and psychology from Williams College and an M.Phil. and Ph.D. in economics from Yale University. \nProfessor Bayer’s scholarship explores diversity\, inclusion\, and innovation in economic education and research. Hoover and Ebonya Washington\, Journal of Economic Perspectives 34(3)\, 2020.\nDoes Simple Information Provision Lead to More Diverse Classrooms?\, with Syon Bhanot and Fernando Lozano\, AEA Papers and Proceedings 109\, 2019.\nExpanding and Diversifying the Pool of Undergraduates who Study Economics: Insights from a New Introductory Course at Harvard\, with Gregory Bruich\, Raj Chetty\, and Andrew Housiaux\,The Journal of Economic Education51(3-4)\, 2020.\n\nProfessor Bayer is a member of the AEA Executive Committee and chairs the AEA’s Advisory Committee on Editorial Appointments. She previously served as a longtime member of the AEA’s Committee on Equity\, Diversity\, and Professional Conduct and the Committee on the Status of Minority Groups in the Economics Profession. \nShe is the lead author of the AEA’s Best Practices for Economists: Building a More Diverse\, Inclusive\, and Productive Profession\, co-author of the AEA Professional Climate Survey\, and the creator and editor of Diversifying Economic Quality.\n                Read More +\n                Show Less -
