DESCRIPTION:Interested in a career in International Development? \nJoin the Development Economics Center (DEC) and the Development Innovation Lab (DIL) for a student discussion with Mark Rosenzweig\, Frank Altschul Professor of International Economics at Yale University. Professor Rosenzweig will share about his distinguished career\, advice to students on working in development economics\, and how academic research can inform and intersect with policy discussions. \nProfessor Rosenzweig is a pioneer in the field of development economics. His primary research interests are in the causes and consequences of economic development and international migration\, and he has also conducted extensive research on topics including family economics\, agricultural economics\, labor economics\, population policy\, and household decisions involving fertility\, human capital investments\, and risk management. \nRosenzweig was also a principal investigator of the New Immigrant Survey\, the Director of Research for the U.S. Select Commission on Refugee and Immigration Policy\, and Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Development Economics (2003-2009). \nIn 2017\, Rosenzweig’s 2009 article on China’s One Child Policy won the prestigious Sun Yefang Economic Science Award for outstanding contributions to economic science\, one of the highest honors in economics. \nThis event is open to all University of Chicago students.
