DESCRIPTION:Over the past 40 years\, China’s central government has overseen an unprecedented economic ascent\, transforming markets at home and abroad. Today\, it is the world’s second-largest economy and top manufacturer\, an economic leader whose markets are increasingly globally-integrated\, and whose companies are among the world’s most innovative and dynamic. Please join the Lowy Institute’s Richard McGregor and the University of Chicago’s Chang-Tai Hsieh for a discussion on the Chinese government’s role in managing the economy and key domestic industries\, the state of its relationships with the outside world\, and how these things have changed over time. \n\nAbout the Seminar Series\nChina is poised to become the world’s largest economy in the near future. However\, such growth is not guaranteed.
