SUMMARY:China in Today’s World Seminar Series — China’s New Economic Growth and Inward Out Outward Circulations
DESCRIPTION:Watch Video on Youku Watch Video on Youtube \nThis seminar featured a discussion with Tsinghua University’s David Li and Chicago Booth’s Chang-Tai Hsieh on the key dimensions of China’s recent economic growth and its path forward. The conversation covered a range of pressing topics for the Chinese economy\, including the dynamics of recent trade friction\, efforts to deal with risks in the financial system\, COVID-19’s long-term impact\, and the ongoing campaigns to reduce poverty and pollution. \nAbout the Seminar Series\nChina is poised to become the world’s largest economy in the near future. However\, such growth is not guaranteed. China faces increasingly complex questions about how to manage the tension between state control and market influence within its own borders\, and how to address international disputes that often arise with expanded global influence. \nPairing University of Chicago economists with world-renowned experts on China\, including both intellectual leaders as well as industry professionals\, “China in Today’s World” is a new series that aims to provide timely insights into these and other key issues\, ranging from technology to financial markets\, and from international trade to regional political challenges.
