DESCRIPTION:EVENT CANCELED \nAs the global health situation involving the Coronavirus (COVID-19) continues to evolve\, the Becker Friedman Institute and faculty directors Steve Levitt and Kevin Murphy\, with guidance from the University of Chicago’s Office of the Provost\, have decided that the best course of action is to cancel this event. We recognize that this decision comes at a cost in terms of foregone opportunities for an entire cohort of students\, but the public health risks raised by the coronavirus outbreak and the safety of faculty\, staff and students are our top priority. \nIf you have any questions\, please do not hesitate to reach out to Casey Huisenga\, chuisenga@uchicago.edu. \n\nThe Price Theory Summer Camp\, led by UChicago economists Steve Levitt and Kevin Murphy\, was created to introduce PhD students from outside the University of Chicago to price theory\, which emphasizes the application of basic economic tools to problems. \nDuring this intensive one-week program\, students hear lectures from UChicago and visiting faculty and experience a series of “Chicago-style” seminars where faculty present their research in progress. Participants also work on problem sets in workshops and have opportunities to discuss their own work with some of the world’s leading economists. \nThe program is geared toward PhD students in economics who have completed their third or fourth year of study\, but applications are accepted from doctoral candidates of all levels. \nAs background\, the 2019 agenda and feedback from participants can be found here.
